A firefighter at the Fire Kills! display demonstrates what happens when a cup of water is poured on a chip pan fire
A first year Sports and Marketing student put on an event in the Creative Arts building plaza last week to highlight the danger of house and chip pan fires.
The ‘Fire Kills!’ display, the venue for which was only secured in the week leading up to the event, has been hailed a success by its organiser, Daniel Dunn.
“I’m really pleased,” said Dunn. “It’s been great to be involved in something so important.”
The event raised an impressive crowd as firefighters revealed what happens when water is added to a chip pan fire.
The display, the second of its kind on campus in recent months, aimed to raise awareness of dangers students may face in their first times away from home and equip them with the knowledge to prevent and remedy such dangers should they arise.
