Virtual Junaid removed from UHSU website

Virtual Junaid removed from UHSU website

The virtual representation of University of Huddersfield Students’ Union (UHSU) President, Junaid Ejaz, has been removed from the UHSU website.

Huddersfield Student understands the 3D composite of Ejaz’s head may have been removed due to a lack of use by the President and misuse by a minority of users.

‘Virtual Junaid’, launched last month, was part of a new open-door scheme to encourage students to keep in contact with their President, alongside the Presidential blog.

Students wanting to speak to Ejaz were able to click the moving composite and converse with the President via an online instant messenger platform.

During offline hours, users could leave their questions with a contact email address for Ejaz to respond.

But sources last month told Huddersfield Student that the facility was not being used.

It is is unsure as of yet whether the facility was removed due to inactivity or technical difficulties.

UPDATE: UHSU have confirmed that they have taken Virtual Junaid away from the front page while software updates are being made.  Virtual Junaid can be accessed here while the changes are being made.

  1. Richard Wood says:

Aww, thats a shame. Seeing Junaid’s virtual bobbing head always made me chuckle.

Made my day almost bearable. *sigh*

  2. Unfortunately, Junaid needs to install and set up software on his computer in order to run the ‘virtual’ system, and this is taking some time to sort out.

Until this software is installed Virtual Junaid has been relocated to Junaids profile page, and students can still contact Junaid using the ‘leave a message’ option.

We are hoping to get the software sorted this week and Virtual Junaid will be back on the the front page and ONLINE!

  3. Mark says:

Casue we really NEED Junaid’s face on the front website!

  4. The Students' Union says:

The software issues have now been resolved and Virtual Juniad is back on the home page.
